Jason has been tattooing since 2002. He spent his 20’s working in the music industry. In 1998, he graduated from California College of the Arts with a Bachelor of Fine Art, with a focus on painting and drawing. Jason was fortunate to meet two old-timers who mentored him into tattooing. Having tattooed in Los Angeles, Oakland, and San Francisco, CA, Syracuse, NY, and Corvallis, OR; Jason settled in Portland in 2009 and opened Freaks and Geeks Tattoo Studio in 2011. Jason specializes in traditional Americana or Japanese style tattooing.

Truth is, Realism has never been my specialty. Japanese and Americana tattooing, now that gets me.

However, I am a tattooist. And not some newb who only tattoos one thing. I am a real tattooist. And as a real tattooist, when a client comes in and asks for something I don't generally tattoo, I sharpen my needles and get to work.

What? Like seriously? How do you do it?

4 years of art school. Major in painting, minor in drawing. Plus, 22 years of tattoo experience.

Here is the deal. You want a tattooist with a lot of experience. I can tattoo almost anything your heart desires. Plus. I know what will last a lifetime. I won't put a tattoo on you that will look good today and look like crap in 5 years. Some of my clients have been coming to me for 22 years. Why? 'Cause the work lasts.

It certainly ain't for my pretty face.
It might be the funny stories though.

Hi everyone. We are open today and have time for walk ins.

I know it has been a rough night for many of you. And some of you are probably having a hard day already.

What is a great way to feel better? Get a tattoo.

Yes, I might sound like a salesman. But seriously. Tattooing has been used for healing purposes for thousands of years. In my 2 decades of tattooing, I have been the tattooing shaman for hundreds of clients. Maybe even thousands. When a loved one passes i help them heal. When they fall in love I help them celebrate.

Today, I am here for you. You can tell it all to me. I will listen. My tattoos really will help you heal. As a tattooist, I literally can pull your stress away.

I know many of you may feel the need to hide. But the truth is, staying at home and being depressed will not make things better. The only way to feel better, is to move forward. Hiding won't change anything. Worse, it only increases your anxiety.

Get outside. Feel the warmth of the sun.

I have tattooed the serenity prayer on many people. So let remind of what it says.

and the wisdom to know the difference.

People opening shops and closing shops and learning a valuable lesson. You better be a muthafukin' hustla, if you are going to open a tattoo shop. The first thing you learn is, just because you hang your shiny new sign and look all professional doest not mean anyone will come in.

It's November. Plenty of openings and availability. I won't lie to you. Get tattooed. And if you are not in my area, go see your local tattooist and help them pay the rent.

When i post tattoo photos, I usually post two or three shots, often with a pull back shot to show where the tattoo sits on the body. Also, it gives the viewer an idea of how big, or small, a tattoo is.
